Gators and Cocks To Decide SEC East Champion
In a long anticipated battle, Steve Spurrier will take his 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks into his old stomping grounds of Gainesville, FL to do battle with the 2nd-ranked Florida Gators. The winner will inevitably leave The Swamp with the SEC East championship all but locked up. Florida has dominated teams this season behind a fast, stingy defense and a dymanic offense loaded with playmakers. However, the Gators have run into a few scares in recent conference matchups between LSU and Georgia. Will the Gamecocks find the mojo to defeat the Gators in The Swamp? The Gamecocks are still smarting from the "woodshed" beatdown from LSU a few weeks ago and are out to prove to the nation that they belong with college football elite teams. Spurrier has called out Coach Urban Meyer this week stating that his lack of visor wearing is a disgrace to Florida football and has vowed to hang a Gator with his bare hands on the 50 yard line in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium this week. Meyer responded, "Oh yeah, well I can point better than you!" Spurrier, a Heisman Trophy winning QB at Florida says now that he has no respect for the Gators or Urban Meyer, even going as far as to doing this in 2006 at the Gators 10 year national championship reunion.
Florida will be the favorite to win at home, but don't be surprised if the Gamecocks come out fighting and make this one closer than the experts think.
