And the Ultimate Winner of RUTS3 Is.....

...The Oklahoma Sooners and coach utvol27!!!!

By defeating coach StuBucksman's Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 35-17 in the BCS National Championship Game in Tempe, AZ, coach utvol27 has compiled 3 total national championships in 5 seasons, one more than Alabama's 2 national titles. Coach utvol27 is also the only coach to win back-to-back titles (doing so in seasons 4 and 5). Alabama claimed the national titles in seasons 1 and 3.

Further details, analysis, stats, and highlights of this Oklahoma victory are forthcoming, but these initial stats provide major insight into how the game was won. The efficiency of the Sooners was just too much for Bama to overcome.

1 vs 2! Sooners and Buckeyes to Battle it Out in BIG D!

Once again, the #1 Oklahoma Sooners and the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes will meet in Cowboys Stadium in Dallas tonight (8 p.m. ET / Oprah Winfrey Network). The winner will not only be the nation's #1 team heading into Bowl season and be crowned Big XII champions, but they will also secure a spot in the BCS National title game against the SEC Champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

Coach utvol27 and his team, scared to fly to Dallas after Ohio State fans threatened to pelt the Sooners' team plane with buckeyes (hail/Buckeye dent damage is real folks!) left for Dallas earlier in the week by the only other logical means...the Sooner Schooner. Coach utvol27 saw the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer (it is December afterall - conference title week) across the state as too lucrative to pass up, so he and his team decided to forgo a week's worth of practice to spend 6 days on the backroads of Oklahoma and Texas, arriving in Dallas less than 24 hours before kickoff. If this works out, and the Sooners win, Coach utvol27's legendary status will only grow. But, if it backfires, and the Sooners are upset by the Bucks, the ride may be forever known in Oklahoma as the new trail of tears.

Yay Alabama! Tide Dominates UNC to claim its 4th SEC title in 5 seasons

 Atlanta, GA -
Alabama jumped ahead early and never looked back, earning Coach StuBucksman and the Crimson Tide their 4th SEC title in the 5 seasons of RUTS3. In a game that many thought would be closer than it turned out to be, Coach StuBucksman used a balanced, albeit not-so-flashy, offensive attack  and a stifling defensive game plan to hold UNC without a touchdown and secured the Alabama-nation a trip back to the BCS National Championship Game.

Alabama WR Avery "Big Fart" Marquardt hauled in 5 receptions for 103 yards to earn game MVP honors. After the game, a teary-eyed Coach StuBucksman stood on the field, speechless as he watched his team celebrate another conference title.

"Last year at this time, we were sitting at home watching LSwho take home this trophy," said the coach, now in an all-out weeping cry. "This is OUR trophy! OUR trophy! And, it's coming back home to T-Town baby! This one is for Harvey Updyke and every sensible, hard-working, red blooded Crimson Tide fan in this great country of ours."

Tide fans screamed and threw their underwear on the field as the legendary coach and his team left the field to the tune of Sweet Home Alabama. After departing the Georgia Dome, Coach StuBucksman made a surprise appearance at the post-game after-party at the nicest Motel 6 in the greater-Atlanta area. Hosted by longtime Coach StuBucksman, Alabama, and Sensual Barbecue fan Tom Selleck, the party raised $32.67 for the Harvey Updyke Foundation to Ensure Your Kids Get Cool Alabama-affiliated First Names. As if he needed any more positive publicity, Coach StuBucksman reportedly grabbed the microphone at the event and led the crowd in a rousing rendition of "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting" before leaving the hotel in a stretch Oldsmobile Cutluss Supreme...crimson of course.

RUTS 4 Logo Options

It's that time of year ladies & gentlemen...time for you to vote on the official RUTS4 logo. Last year's RUTS3 logo poll was a big success, and provided us with a quality logo that has been lauded and praised by such successful companies as Nike and Chick Fil-a and creative entertainers like Lady GaGa, Emilio Estevez, and Tom Selleck.

Now, it's time to select the RUTS4 logo!

The question is, do we stick with what works, extend our brand, and keep the same logo (replacing the '3' with a '4')? Or, do we go back to the drawing board and recreate our logo?

The logo choices are below and have been named accordingly. Please vote in the blog poll on the right side of the page, and refer to this blog post day and night to ponder what selection you make. Your choice might mean all the difference in whether or not RUTS4 gets off on the right foot! No pressure!

Also...this year, you can vote as many times as you want!! Let your voice be heard. Happy voting!

OPTION #1
"Oldie But Goodie" - it's a timeless piece of logo history. The classic RUTS logo that, while only being 1 year old, has left a mark that withstands the test of time. It also reminds me of a simpler time when Bill Walsh roamed the sidelines.

OPTION #2
"Oldie But Goodie Circular" - Adding many of the same elements that made the "Oldie But Goodie" a success, this circular logo features the full title of the dynasty and includes the year of its creation, 2008.

OPTION #3
"The Collegiate" - adorned with collegiate style lettering, this logo emphasizes RUTS's ties to the NCAA franchise and introduces a new blue and orange color scheme.
OPTION #4
"The Jersey" - framed in the shape of a jersey, this logo keeps a new color scheme option.

OPTION #5
"The Embroidered Jersey" - framed in the shape of a jersey, this logo keeps a new color scheme option and gives an embroidered/sewn on look to the logo.

OPTION 6
"These SUCK! Go Back to the Drawing Board!"

Season 5 Conference Title Games Set

The season 5 SEC and Big XII conference title games have been set . The nation's top 5 teams are all RUTS teams, and the top 4 (1. Okla, 2. OSU, 3. Alabama, 4. UNC) will meet in what amounts to the national semi-final, with the winners advancing to the BCS National title game.

THE HAT

UNC's "big 3" hope to get a football title
In the SEC, for the 4th time in 5 seasons, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the North Carolina Tarheels will meet in the Georgia Dome. The Tide have reeled off 9 straight wins after starting the season 1-2. The Heels lost in week 2 to Oklahoma, but since then, have notched 10 straight Ws, including back-to-back wins against LSU and Florida which sent shock waves across the nation. Is this the Heels' year to finally break through and defeat the Tide to claim the SEC crown?

UNC is confident right now, and if a few breaks go their way, the Tar Heels just might break through and defeat the Tide. It's hard to bet against Alabama and Coach StuBucksman in this game though. They have the experience, and on paper, have the better rated team. Bama, winners of the season 1 and 3 national titles were virtually discounted after their 1-2 start but have rebounded with a revamped offense and amazingly find themselves flying under the radar on their way to getting back into national title contention.

This game will be close, and UNC will have an opportunity to win it. However, Alabama's depth and experience will prove to be too much. We predict: Alabama 34, North Carolina 31

For the 4th consecutive season,  the #1 Oklahoma Sooners and the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes will meet in Dallas to crown the Big 12 Champion. The Buckeyes defeated the Sooners in season 1's regular season, but since that game the Sooners have reeled off 5 consecutive victories over the Bucks, including 3 wins in the Big 12 title game.

The 12-0 Sooners, in a highly controversial game earlier this season, defeated OSU 36-29 in Norman, but to no one's surprise, the two teams have ended up the season as the nations top 2 teams in the BCS.

This game will likely be a close one again, and we won't be surprised if either team wins. But we have to go with the team who has the best player on the field, and that is Oklahoma. With veteran SS Dave Moore prowling the field, it makes it nearly impossible to consistently move the ball on the Sooners without eventually falling victim to a big Dave Moore-fumble causing hit or interception. Moore, who OSU Coach UTVol54 called "the best player in the country" will be a key factor tonight. One look at Moore's stats (6 forced fumbles, 3 recoveries, 1 INT, 2 sacks, and 20 TFLs from the SS position) supports Coach UTVol54's assessment. How can the Bucks off-set his mega powers?

This game will be close, and once again, just as in the teams' past 2 meetings, the Buckeyes will have a chance to win the game late. But, the Sooners will be too much. Oklahoma wins this game 24-17 and advances to the national title game.

If these predictions hold true, and the Sooners and Crimson Tide meet in the title game, the RUTS3 National Championship tie will be broken. And, either Coach utvol27 or Coach StuBucksman will earn the right to be called "KING OF RUTS3!"

NCAA 12 News and Videos

The game comes out July 12!

Full Pre-Game Presentation Video

Some Really Cool New Dynasty Features in NCAA 12

And CLICK HERE to read a full version of what new dynasty features will appear in NCAA 12. Here are some highlights:

- You can sim games on the web, and even call plays from your computer, if you're unable to get on the PS3 to play a game.

- If you wanted, you could start RUTS4 as the offensive or defensive coordinator of your new team and only control your team's plays on that side of the ball. This is cool, but wouldn't be a great option for us.

- Conferences can be completely revamped, including new conference names, division names, bowl tie-ins, and the number of teams in each conference can be tweaked. Cool!

- As commissioner, I will be able to advance the week on the web this year! Assuming this works right, this is an awesome new feature which makes me really happy.
