Sooners Cry Foul! Week 3 Coaches Poll Presents Major Conspiracy

This week's Top 25 Coaches Poll has the Sooner Nation up in arms. After their upset of previously #1 Alabama, the Sooners climbed only 3 spots, and find themselves still 4 spots below the Crimson Tide. One Sooner fan emailed ESPN's Bruce Feldman: "This is a travesty, a sham, and major balogna! The Sooners are coming and will not rest until every coach in America is voting us where we deserve.

The Sooner fans, and perhaps their head coach utvol27, are beginning to feel as if the other coaches voting in the poll are slighting the Sooners on purpose, so as either A) not to have to play them in a title game, B) as revenge for Coach utvol27 drinking all the Mike's Hard Lemonade at last year's Coaching Convention, or C) Just becuase they hate the thought of the #1 team residing in a city named Norman.

No matter the situation, the poll presents a major question: Is there a conspiracy to hold back the Sooners? Oklahoma gets another shot to take down a powerhouse this week, as #6 TCU comes calling.

Extra! Extra! Down Goes #1 Bama!

In what can only be described as the upset of the year......

#15 Oklahoma - 30
#1 Alabama - 14

Jefferson Pilot Sports rose from the dead to host this titilating 11:30am eastern time kickoff. The famous Daves (Dave Neal and Dave Baker) called a rousing game as JP Sports returned for this one-time broadcast.

Oklahoma walked into Crimson Tide land and delivered a blow that shook college football at its foundation. Rains poured from the sky, thunder bellowed, and lightning struck during the game...all signs from the gods that the college football landscape was about to be flipped on its head.

Alabama started the game in familiar fashion, forcing an interception on Oklahoma's opening drive, then going the short field to get an early TD. After that, it was all Sooners. They would score 27 unanswered until Bama got back on the board late in the 4th quarter. By then, it was too late. Oklahoma controlled the game with a balanced, efficient attack while stifling the 2 headed monster of Ingram and Richardson. Bama would finish with under 100 yards rushing.

Before the game, coach utvol27 had only these words to share, "They will feel pain!" And pain they felt, as Tide fans suffered their first defeat since the '09 Sugar Bowl loss to Utah. Some faint chants of "Bring back Saban" were even heard as fans filed out late in the game. After the final whistle, gatorade shower, and riding around the field on the Sooner Schooner, coach utvol27 lit his signature victory cigar and uttered only these words before leaving the media room..."This is only the beginning RUTS3!"

#1 Alabama Hosts #15 Sooners in Week 2 Slugfest

In what could prove to be one of the best RUTS games of the season, the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide await the arrival of Coach utvol27 and his Oklahoma Sooners. Both teams are coming off of impressive wins in their season openers, but the level of intensity picks up greatly in week 2.

Everyone remembers what happened the last time these two coaches squared off. And, even though they are now in separate conference, there is no denying that all eyes will be on this one. The winner will earn some huge momentum and would have cleared a huge hurdle in establishing themselves as an early favorite to win the national title, but the loser will only have had his feelings hurt, as there is still plenty of time for a 1-loss team to make some noise this season.

Alabama fans will be welcoming recent PH.D. graduate, Dr. Forrest Gump back to campus, honoring him as Tide Legend of the Game. Gump and Coach StuBucksman, who have struck up a strong bromance over the past few weeks, and before the game, will sing their Karaoke hit that has taken Tuscaloosa by storm, "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley.

This game is difficult to predict, and many Alabama fans have expressed some concern with their team's defense after giving up 31 points at Oregon in week 1, while Oklahoma scored a decisive 42-7 victory against North Carolina. Still, with all that talent on both sides of the ball, we're not betting against Alabama in this one. The Crimson Tide's running game will prove to be too much for the Sooners, and the two-headed monster of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson, we predict, will amass upwards of 200 rushing yards combined to lead the Tide to victory.

The Sooners will put up a fight, and keep it close throughout, but will fall to Alabama 27-21.

Team Previews and Week 1 Matchups

The time has finally come! Week 1 is here and it's time to play some football. entering the season, several RUTS teams fins themselves smack dab in the middle of the national title chase, while others are looking to make a climb into the upper echelon and make the climb to the top.

In today's blog, we'll break down the RUTS3 teams and take an early look at the Week 1 matchups.

TEAM Previews
#1 Alabama - The defending national champion Crimson Tide enter the season as arguably the highest rated video game team in history. Coach StuBucksmans inherits a squad that has seemingly no weaknesses. With 9 (yes 9!) 1st Team Preseason All-Americans on the roster, Alabama is the clear cut favorite to make it back to Glendale, AZ for the National Championship Game. Standing in their way is a rough SEC schedule and tough road games at #4 Oregon, #14 Miami, #17 LSU, and Tennessee. With star players across the board, including returning Heisman Trophy Winner, RB Mark Ingram (arguably the 2nd best RB on the roster), Alabama has the talent to devour any team in its path. Coach StuBucksman has been coaching his players up and even convincing them that they are underdogs. The Crimson Tide's head ball coach, lifelong Alabama fan, has made himself right at home in what he calls "his dream job." It will be a surprise if he isn't leading his team onto the field to defend their national title come season's end.

#2 Ohio State - Coach UTVOL54 surprised everyone, even himself, by accepting the head coaching position in Columbus. All signs pointed elsewhere, but when draft day came, the Buckeyes, with their tradition, talent, speed, and weird looking mascot, were able to snag the former LSU and Tennessee Titans head coach. They say defense wins championships, and OSU is loaded on the defensive side of the ball. And, with Heisman candidate QB Terrelle Pryor, speedy RB Brandon Saine, and shifty WR Devier Posey, the offense is loaded with playmakers as well. The Buckeyes are going to have to adjust to playing in the revamped Big XII conference, where they'll face tough competition each week. Out of conference games at Tennessee, USC, and at home against Penn State and LSU won't be easy either. Don't look for the Buckeyes to be undefeated by season's end, but they could still end up with a shot at the elusive national title.

#4 Oregon - The mighty Ducks of Oregon and Head Coach zeejaydee have been quacking up a storm in Eugene. With their sweet facilities, uniforms, and an uncanny ability to ruffle feathers, the Ducks are looking to take the Big XII by storm. Opening the season against #1 Alabama won't be easy, but Coach zeejaydee and his squad have been practicing like gangbusters in preparation for the visit from the Tide. Despite a potential controversy at the Qb position between reliable senior Nate Costa and speedy sophomore Darren Thomas. All signs point to Thomas being in the lead, but zeejaydee won't confirm either way. After making huge strides in RUTS2 during his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he is looking to continue his rise to the top. It's gonna take some Duck magic, but don't rule out a surprise or two this season from Oregon.

#14 Miami - The Hurricanes make their return to RUTS, with rookie head coach stinvol at the helm. No one knows what to expect from the Canes this season, but with improving QB play and a talented backfield, Miami is looking to surprise a few teams along the way. With arguably the toughest schedule in the nation, it won't be easy. Coach stinvol is excited to hit the ground running with a week 1 visit to Death Valley to face LSU. QB Jacory Harris is going to have to play almost mistake free football in order for Miami to win the Big XII south, but that is certainly possible, even with Oklahoma to contend with. All eyes will be on the "U" in week 1 and look for stinvol to come out with an attitude and a vengeance.

#15 Oklahoma - The Boomer Sooner wagon is being led by a new wagon-driver-guy, as Coach utvol27 makes the move to the thriving metropolis of Norman, Oklahoma. With a storied tradition and a proven head coach, the Sooners say they are settling for nothing less than a title this season. Coach utvol27 makes his return to the college game, where he guided Clemson to 4 straight national titles in RUTS1. Will he be able to schmooze and pay recruits to come to Norman like he did at Clemson? Only time will tell. But even though the Sooners are ranked out of the top 10, I don't think anyone will expect them to finish there. The road to the BCS title game will go through the Sooners...mark my words.

#17 LSU - Coach cjohnchavis is as giddy as Lane Kiffin at a sorority party to be reunited with his father, legendary defensive coordinator Coach cjohnchavis'sdad. The Chavis team knocks the Kiffins down to #2 in the father/son coaching duo ranks, but that's not all that cjohnchavis is concerned with. He inherits a talent rich program with 3 helmet color options, and does not take that for granted. He's beefing up his student manager pool to cover the extra time it will take to implement white helmets this season. On his official Twitter page, the coach confirms that while it will be taxing on the managers, he is up for the challenge. He's also been charged by Ohio State Coach UTVOL54 to "not screw up his awesome legacy at LSU by losing too many games" (UTVOL54 led the Tigers to a National title in RUTS1, season 5). All silliness aside, LSU will be a contender all season, and one of the "Games of the Year" will come in Week 10 when they host #1 Alabama. Could be one for the ages.

#22 North Carolina - The Tarheels are a surprise addition to RUTS3. Coach ChrisHicks21 unexpectedly accepted the head coaching position in Chapel Hill, but has found the area to be really nice. "They have a lot of great furniture stores in North Carolina and we've been able to furnish our home rather quickly," said ChrisHicks21. What is yet to be seen is if he can lead the Tarheels to victory after victory in the tough SEC East. They were picked to finish 2nd behind Florida in the division, but with home games against both the Gators and Tennessee, the Heels have a leg, or heel, up on the Gators. Look for the Tarheels to be a contender all season, and possibly wind up in Atlanta for the SEC title game.

Tennessee - And now to the Vols. Coach EBDial bravely selected the orange-clad Vols and as such, received the RUTS3 Preseason Courage Award. What he won't admit and what some fail to see, is that the Big Orange, despite lacking depth at some key positions, have the talent to make some noise this season. QB Matt Simms leads an offense with some unheralded, but talented stars, such as RB Tauren "Don't Pee in The" Poole and WR Gerald Jones. The truth is, the Tennessee job was more coveted by the other RUTS3 coaches than originally thought, and EBDial may be the envy of the league. The Vols open the season against #2 Ohio State, and if they're able to knock off the Buckeyes...look out. The key will be to remain injury free, and if they do so all season, the Vols will contend for the SEC East crown.

-------------------------------

Week 1 Predictions

#22 North Carolina @ #15 Oklahoma
The Tarheels have a talented roster, and Coach ChrisHicks's proven running attack will have some suucess, but the Sooners will have too much firepower on this day. Oklahoma 27, UNC 13

#2 Ohio State @ Tennessee
The Vols will come out hot and give the Buckeyes all they can handle in the early going. However, OSU will be too much to handle and QB Terrelle Pryor will use his huge ears to throw and run for crucial yardage and establish himself as a legit Heisman candidate. Ohio State 31, Tennessee 20

#14 Miami @ #17 LSU
This may be the best game of the week. Coach stinvol's plan of attack is as mysterious as a Harry Potter book, and LSU must be ready for any and everything. This one will come down to the wire, with LSU kicker Josh Jasper providing the winning FG late in this defensive struggle. LSU 17, Miami 16

#2 Alabama @ #4 Oregon
And now to our game of the week. ESPN's College Gameday will be on hand to see Coach StuBucksman lead the Crimson Tide on to the field for the very first time. Tears will be streaming down his face, undoubtedly. But, he better have his big boy britches on, because this isn't your Daddy's zeejaydee that he's facing. Countless hours in the film room and on the practice field have served this coach and his Ducks well, and they will be ready to take down the defending champs and ruin Coach Stu's day. Many Bama fans expect this to be just a cozy, fun vacation to good ol' Eugene, Oregon, but not so fast my friends...Oregon comes out red hot and jumps out early on the Crimson Tide. Although Bama's defense is unbelievably tough, oregon RB LaMichael James leads the Ducks in a safe and conservative attack all day long. After a costly interception by QB Greg McIlroy late in the game, the Ducks do the unthinkable and shock the college football world by knocking off the Tide. Oregon 27, Alabama 24

RUTS3 Coach Profiles

With the RUTS3 Season just weeks away, we thought it would be a great time to introduce you to the RUTS3 Coaches, who are making themselves right at home at their new schools.

Coach StuBucksman is already a hit with the locals, pictured here singing Kenny Rogers' hit "The Gambler" on Karaoke Night at Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa.

Coach utvol27 has amerced himself in the Sooner culture, spending every waking hour between practices honing his Oregon Trail skills on his new computer.

Coach cjohnchavis, dubbing himself the next Lane Kiffin, is loving being reunited with his father and LSU Defensive Coordinator Coach cjohnchavis'sDad. He also loves wearing purple, although rumor is that Coach UTVOL54 is upset at LSU administration for not following through on a promise made two years ago!

Coach ChrisHicks21 has been welcomed with hugs, kisses, and open arms from UNC legends. He's now charged with the task of figuring our what the heck a Tarheel is.

Coach EBDial wins the RUTS3 Preseason "Courage Award" for going with his heart and being brave enough to take a chance on his beloved Vols. We're all (well, most of us!) are rooting for you Coach! P.S. ---Please keep the orange pants in the uniform rotation...for the kids!

Coach UTVOL54, criticized for his sweater vest collection and for choosing the hated Buckeyes of Ohio State, is amazed at the talent of star QB Terrell Pryor. He also hopes to be invited to dot the "i" at the team's first home game....FINGERS CROSSED!

Coach stinvol, making his RUTS debut has a tough schedule ahead, but will rely on Crockett, Tubbs, and the Canes' storied history of illegal recruiting to rise to the top of the RUTS ranks.

Coach zeejaydee was "tickled pink" to be asked by his players to pose in the team's new uniforms. According to a source close to a 3rd cousin of someone who once knew the team's former physician, Coach zeejaydee is testing his new Flying V formation offense, and is happy with the results.

Great News! Tuner Set Released on NCAA 11

Read the full article here, but this is a very important bit of news!

The initial set of “gameplay tuners” for NCAA Football 11 arrived this morning. First introduced in NHL 10, EA Sports can now tweak game settings through the delivery of tuners which don’t have to go through the patch process. That means adjustments can be made and new tuner sets can be sent out whenever deemed necessary without having to go through the certification period or face the restrictions that accompany patches.

This tuner set includes some changes to gameplay based on feedback and looks to fix for the issue with low rated prospects that severely damages dynasty mode once a few years in. There is no need to restart dynasty mode for the changes to take effect! The tuners will not fix issues such as the QB getting stuck in an animation and running backwards for a safety. That will be handled in the upcoming patch which should be out within the next week or two.

During start-up of the game the prompt to download the latest gameplay tuning data will appear. Continue on for the list of changes that are implemented through this set of tuners and leave your thoughts in the comments!

- Increased the default starting values for all Recruits.

- Slightly increased progression for low and mid tier teams.

- Tuned CPU recruiting to prevent teams from signing too many players at any one particular position.

- Increased CPU’s focus upon needed positions in recruiting.

- Top schools will sign 5 star prospects earlier in the season.

- After a recruit Soft Commits, any CPU team that is not ranked in the top three will spend significantly less time calling the recruit.

- Addressed an issue with big lineman jumping too high and deflecting passes.

- Tuned ESPN U Top 150 Players to be more in line with actual top 150 recruits by decreasing the number of Fullbacks and Kickers. Tuned Field Goal, Kick Offs, and Punting in Super Sim.

RUTS3 Conference Realignment Shakes Up College Football Landscape

After a unanimous vote on Monday afternoon/evening from the RUTS3 Competition Committee, the college football landscape will be changing dramatically heading into RUTS3, Season 1.

After weeks of speculation, the conference realignment plan was approved, and several of the top programs in college football will be changing conferences this season, severing years of ties with their former conferences.

"This change is necessary for the success of RUTS3," Commissioner UTVOL54. "These programs will be moving to new conferences, and not only will it make RUTS better, it will be better for college football in general."

Co-Commissioner utvol27 suggested the same, as we spoke to him by phone on his way to celebrate the conference changes at Big Ed's Pizza in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. "This plan offers every RUTS team the chance to compete for championships, while also keeping true to their traditional rivalry games and providing their fans new rivalries to savor."

The change signals a new beginning for the Big XII conference, previously thought to be on the brink of extinction. In the new format, the Big XII now spreads coast to coast in its reach, and Coach cjohnchavis has already coined the new conference the "BIG AMERICAN CONFERENCE."

The ACC, Mountain West and Pac 10 also see wholesale changes, while the SEC and Big 10 each take on two new teams.

Now that the conferences are set, the RUTS Competition Committee will be awaiting the Season 1 schedules, which Commissioner UTVOL54 and Co-Commissioner utvol27 will be drafting over the next few days.
