A Little Funny, A Little Sad (for us Vols)

On a side note, any reports of untying an opponent's shoelaces during any online dynasty games will result in a 18 1/2 game suspension and league ridicule.

Week 7 Preview - It's A Dandy

Week 7 features what might be the game of the season up to this point, as well as a classic SEC East rivalry. In the words of Keith Jackson, "Whoa Nelly, you better buckle your chinstraps!"

Gators! Tigers! In The Swamp!
ESPN College GameDay Looks Forward to Rowdy Reptiles

Last season's Florida/LSU matchup was one of the best games of the season, with LSU scoring a victory in Death Valley with a late 4th quarter touchdown. Before, during, and after the slugfest in Baton Rouge, LSU students and fans hurled insults galore at Tim Tebow, none of which have been forgotten by the Gators' signal caller. They may, however, have been forgotten by you. Here's a refresher:

Students Have An Inside Scoop?

This Has No Game Relevance, But This LSU Student Must Think Tebow Has Some Sweet Cheerleading & Dance Moves

Late Hit Much?

Post-Game "Moment"

It will certainly be a rowdy crowd in The Swamp this week, and the #2 Gators look to further state their claim for the top spot in the nation. Florida has been beyond dominant this season, winning their 5 games by an average margain of 40.8 points. The matchup provides many storylines and is a battle between the previous two national champions. Can LSU's defense contain Tim Tebow, as he boldly waves the flag for the Gator nation? Can Florida bottle up 5'5 LSU speedster Trindon Holliday? Will the Gators finally respond fan demands and break out their new Jort uniforms? One thing is for sure, the Gators, and Tim Tebow, will have payback on thier minds.
Lee Corso Picks The ________??? And this guy isn't happy about it one bit! Even Erin Andrews is picking the Gators!

Tommy Bowden On The Hot Seat, Again?
"You just can't do that on national television," exclaims Clemson Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips. Bowden vows to clean things up a bit on the sidelines this week against Wake Forest.

Tennessee/Georgia...It's A Football Fiesta
It's Uga's bark vs. Smokey's howl! Tennessee has dominated in the previous two matchups in 2006 (51-33) and 2007 (35-14). It's a rivalry that certainly has been spiced up in the past decade, with both team's winning its share of games in the series. 'Twas only one year ago that a keynote event occured that sums up what this rivalry means to both teams...
A regular touchdown celebration in any other game might look something like this:

But when it's Tennessee/Georgia, it transforms into this work of art:

Spurrier Enjoys Off Week, Will Hit The Links
Spurrier: "We're Playing Kentucky, It's An Off-Week"

South Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier plans to spend this week chasing the golf ball around. You'd think the Gamecocks' skipper might be on the practice field preparing his team for a visit at Kentucky this week, or at least in the film room preparing a plan of attack for next week's showdown with the LSU. "I don't have time to worry about Kentucky or LSU," says Spurrier. "My short game is horrendous right now, and I've got to get it fixed." I'm not sure what the ol' ball coach is trying to get fixed in this picture.

Auburn Looks to Run Past Hogs, Get Back Into Top 25

The Auburn Tigers host the reeling Arkansas Razorbacks this week, and with an impressive win, can earn a spot in next week's Top 25. Behind a rejuvenated Kodi Burns at QB, who provided a deadly run/pass combo last week at Vanderbilt, the Tigers, with a win can improve to 4-3 on the season, and more importantly, 4-1 in the SEC race. With LSU's difficult conference schedule coming up, a resurgent Auburn team looks to put the pressure on the Bayou Bengals of LSU for the SEC West crown.

Miami Coach Disappears From Dynasty; Smoke Monster To Blame

In a shocking turn of events, just seconds before the Miami Hurricanes took the field against the rival Florida State Seminoles, the Miami Head Coach disappered into thin air. Sources say he will no longer be coaching the Hurricanes this season.
"He was right there in the tunnel with us," said an unidentified 'Canes player. "Then he was gone. I think that crazy smoke monster finally got him."

The Hurricanes take the field against the Seminoles...without their head coach.

Police have identified this man as the lead suspect in the disappearance.

LSU QB News

LSU QB Jarrett Lee decided to spend his off-week doing what all SEC QBs do best...play beer pong. Coach Les Miles, upset by these revelations, stated that Lee will be suspended for the 1st defensive play aginst the Gators next week....not because he was playing beer pong, but because his beer of choice was (see the picture) Natty Light tallboys. Stay classy Jarrett!

Week 6 Preview

Week 6 is upon us. Although this week's slate of games is less than exciting on paper (or computer screen), there's one classic rivalry just itching to become relevant again.

Florida State (3-1) @ Miami (0-4)
The Miami-Florida State rivalry dates to 1951, with Miami holding the all-time advantage, 30-22. This year's Noles look to win their third straight game of the season, while the Canes are looking for their first win. With a relatively easy schedule ahead, a win against the Noles could launch the Hurricanes back into the ACC race. In this rivalry, there's never a lack of trash talk or pictures (courtesy of our friends at Google)

A Week Off:
#7 Clemson, #13 LSU, and #23 Georgia all have a week off this week. The off-week looks to benefit LSU the most, as they prepare to head to Gainesville next week to take on the mighty Gators. While they have no injuries, LSU will need every extra day of preparation possible to come away with a victory in The Swamp.

Clemson Falls in the Coaches Poll
Tiger fans were shocked this week when it was discovered that Clemson fell one spot in the coaches' poll to #7. The Wisconsin Badgers (now the #6 team) jumped past the Tigers in the latest poll. However, Wisconsin plays host to the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes at Camp Randall Stadium this week, so one of these over-rated Big 10 teams will take a tumble in next week's poll.

We're Coming...To Your Ci-Taaaay!

Week 5's slate of games is a little less exiting, as 7 of the 9 dynasty teams play games against the computer. (Have you ever wondered why it's called "playing against the computer?")The game of the week is a showdown in Williams-Bryce Stadium in Columbia, SC between the #12 South Carolina Gamecocks and the #16 Virginia Tech Hokies. ESPN College Gameday will be on hand for the telecast and the network is dubbing the game, "The Battle of the Weird Looking Birds."

vs.

It's a big week for both teams, as the Gamecocks look to move to 5-0 and the Hokies look to continue their climb in the polls and win their 4th straight, after starting the season with a loss against Florida. South Carolina feels slighted that they have yet to crack the Top 10, so it will be interesting to see if Coach Spurrier has his troops fired up over the "no respect" card. Will the 'Cocks be able to slow down the dual-threat attack of Hokies QB Tyrod Taylor? Will Frank Beamer have any special teams or defensive tricks up his sleeve to thwart Carolina's WR Heisman contender, Kenny McKinley.

Other important games include #15 Alabama @ Georgia and #18 Tennessee @ Auburn. Both Georgia (1-3) and Auburn (1-3) need upset victories in these SEC slugfests to turn their seasons around. In SEC play, nothing is certain, but look for both teams to take advantage of their home crowds to earn victories this week.

"We're #2!":The Florida Gators jumped the Oklahoma Sooners in this week's coaches' poll and have moved into the all-important #2 spot. The Ohio State Buckeyes are the unanimous selection as the #1 team in the land, and if the season ended today, would be primed and ready for their 3rd straight year of being abused by an SEC team in the National Championship Game. Florida hosts Ole Miss this week, but a brutal strecth of games lies ahead for the Gators in their quest for another national championship.

Week 4 Game Previews

Gators Head to Rocky Top, Will Not Debut New Uniforms
Tim Tebow leads the Florida Gators into Knoxville for its annual SEC East showdown with rival Tennessee. Both teams enter the game 2-0. Florida, coming off an open week, will be looking to repeat last year's 59-20 victory over the Volunteers, while 2008 Heisman hopeful, and last year's Heisman winner, Tim Tebow looks to lead the Gators to its third straight victory of the season. Contrary to popular Internet rumor, the Gators will not be debuting their new JORT football pants in Knoxville this week. Gator fans, on the other hand, will be sure to be wearing them!

'Something To Prove' for both Tigers and Bulldogs
Both Georgia and Clemson say they have something to prove heading into this Saturday's matchup at Clemson. The Tigers have scored 50-plus points in each of its three dominant wins this season, but feel slighted that they remain at #6 in the rankings. Georgia, on the other hand, looks to bounce back after back-to-back upset defeats against Florida State and South Carolina. This out-of-conference tilt should provide for a hostile environment, and Georgia QB Matthew Stafford will need to regain some confidence after throwing 7 interceptions against the Gamecocks last week. Stafford insists his sluggish performance against the Gamecocks had nothing to do with any off the field distractions, such as him being photographed spooning with a male friend at a NASCAR race in Talladega.

"No Way Jose": Spurrier not leaving Columbia
No. 13 ranked South Carolina's trip to Miami was already big. It's a barometer for how well the rising Gamecocks can handle success, after three relatively easy victories to start the season. However, after a picture of Gamecocks Head Coach Steve Spurrier recently surfaced with him wearing a Miami Hurricanes visor, the intensity of this game just hit record levels. Spurrier insists the picture was taken after a few too many Cosmos on the lake this summer. "Things got out of hand, I got a little tipsy. Can't the 'ol ball coach kick back and enjoy a fruity cocktail every once in a while?" But what about the Hurricanes visor? Spurrier insists it was only taken because he adores the South Beach lifestyle, and not because he has any interest in joining the Hurricanes' staff. Regardless of this back-story, you can bet that Spurrier will have the Gamecocks ready, even going as far as bringing "the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be" to a recent practice to fire up his squad. The Hurricanes, staying out of the limelight, hope the recent distractions and accolades thrown upon the Gamecocks will backfire and are looking forward to an upset in Miami this week.

In A Battle of Tigers, LSU to rely on conditioning to defeat rival Auburn
After last week's victory over the Seminoles in Tallahassee, and the ensuing Gatorade shower given to Coach Les Miles, the LSU Tigers were sent to the track to run laps. "Anytime someone does anything to do harm or create trauma to my white hat, they will pay," said an empathic Miles. "My players will learn to respect my white hat, and if they don't they'll keep running laps. We'll dang sure be ready to respect my hat by the time we take the field against Auburn.
Auburn picked up its first victory of the season on the road against Mississippi State last week and Coach Tommy Tuberville looks to build on the team's momentum again this week. The winner of this game will stake its claim to be the favorite to win the SEC West. The home team has won the past 12 meetings in this under-rated, hard hitting rivalry. Respect this rivalry, and the white hat!

Extra Hokie Power in Chapel Hill This Week
In a warm gesture of family love, Virginia Tech will allow three generations of its Hokie mascotMr. Hokie III, Mr. Hokie Jr. and Mr. Hokie, Sr. to travel with the team to Chapel Hill for its game against the North Carolina Tarheels. Always a characterization of power and glory, Mr. Hokie, III fits the standard of which all hokie bird have been defined.
"What we want with the mascot is one that will have personality and can be characterized for different sports. We want him to move, to live. He needs to convey power and strength while still being a turkey," says Head Coach Frank Beamer. Well said, coach! Well said indeed.
The Hokies are looking to start 2-0 in the ACC with a victory over the TarHeels before next week's long anticipated home game against South Carolina.

Seminoles Look to Secret Weapon in Game at Wake Forest
Florida State Head Coach Bobby Bowden revealed a secret that will utilize a secret weapon when his 'Noles open the ACC season on the road at Wake Forest. "Yes, we will be bringing the dumb blondes with us on the trip," said an excited Bowden. They will be the assigned ball girls on the Wake Forest sideline for both halves and one will be designated to retrieve the kicking tee after each kickoff." While acknowledging that the dumb blondes wouldn't be as quick or aggressive in their "tee retrieving" as the tee retriever at an SEC school, Bowden was confident that the blondes would help QB Christian Ponder lead the 'Noles to an upset victory over the #21 ranked Deamon Deacons.

Week 3 Storylines

We have a new #1 team in the land this week, after Florida State went to Athens and defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 31-14. Oklahoma (#1) and Ohio State (#2) stand in the way of the Florida Gators (#3) and the top spot in the land.

Week 2's "BIG MAN ON CAMPUS" award goes to the Clemson Tigers' defense for forcing 9 interceptions and not allowing an offensive TD in their beatdown of LSU. At the end of the season, we'll do a poll to vote on the Season's Biggest Man on Campus, for the best performance (in a given week) of the entire season.

Last week's big movers were the Clemson Tigers (#7), who dominated LSU in Baton Rouge, and the South Carolina Gamecocks (#16), who overcame injuries to highly touted WR Kenny McKinley and QB Stephen Garcia to pound the Vanderbilt Commodores. The season is young, and many tough games await, but Clemson's dominant performances in weeks 1 and 2 could be a telling sign that the Tigers are ready to step to the forefront of the national title picture.

This week, South Carolina faces its toughest test of the season thus far, as the Gamecocks will play host to Georgia, who will bring an angry bunch of Bulldogs to Columbia after last week's loss. The winner of this game will position themselves as the favorite to challenge Florida & Tennessee for the SEC East Crown.

LSU (#14) hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles, who entered the poll at #25 this week after upsetting Georgia. A hostile crowd will welcome the visiting Tigers and it will be difficult for them to come away with a victory. After an array of struggles at the starting QB position against Clemson, LSU will turn to redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee to lead the team against the 'Noles. Lee has yet to attempt a pass this season, but has the arm strength and accuracy that the Tigers think will lead them to victory. True freshman Jordan Jefferson will move to the back-up QB role after starting in the team's first two games.

Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Auburn open their conference seasons against computer opponents this week, and all are favored for easy victories. Auburn needs to gain confidence and earn its first victory of the season this week, before next week's conference showdown against LSU.
